How to Check if a Template Is Active
When viewing the Customer Emails, Your Emails, Customer Texts, or Your Texts pages, you will see a status indicator for each template.
This allows you to quickly identify:
- Which templates are active
- Which templates are disabled
before opening the template for editing.
Why You Might Disable a Template
Businesses commonly disable templates when:
- Testing new workflows
- Running seasonal promotions
- Preventing duplicate notifications
- Adjusting communication strategies
- Temporarily pausing automated messaging
For example, you may disable a Review Request template if you are collecting reviews through another method.
Important Notes
Disabling a Template Stops Future Messages
Disabling a template does not affect messages that have already been sent.
It only prevents future emails or texts from being generated using that template.
Template Content Remains Saved
Disabling a template does not delete:
- Template content
- Timing settings
- Merge codes
- Customizations
Everything remains saved and can be reactivated later.
Premium Features May Be Required
Some email and text automation features are only available on Premium plans.
If a template does not appear in your account, verify that your subscription includes access to that feature.
Best Practices
Before disabling a template:
- Review what triggers the message
- Confirm another notification is not relying on it
- Consider the customer experience
Automated notifications often help reduce missed communications and customer confusion.
Additional Recommendations
Periodically review your active email and text templates to ensure they still align with your business processes.
As your business grows, you may find that some notifications become more important while others are no longer necessary. Keeping your communication settings organized helps ensure customers and staff receive the right information at the right time.
