How to Let Customers Pay in Full at Checkout
What This Is
By default, BRS allows you to collect a deposit at checkout and the remaining balance later. With the Pay in Full at Checkout option enabled, customers can choose to either:
- Pay only the required deposit, or
- Pay the full order amount upfront
This gives customers more flexibility while allowing your business to collect the entire balance immediately from customers who prefer to pay in full.
Where to Find This Setting
From your Dashboard, go to:
Website → Checkout Settings → Payment Configurations
Locate the Allow Customers to Pay in Full at Checkout setting and enable it.

Once enabled, eligible customers will have the option to pay either the deposit or the full order total during checkout.
Requirements
The Pay in Full option is only available when:
- Your business is using deposit payments for bookings.
- The customer selects Credit/Debit Card as their payment method during checkout.
If deposits are not enabled, or the customer chooses a different payment method, this option will not appear.
How It Works
When a customer reaches checkout:
- They review their order.
- They select Credit/Debit Card as their payment method.
- If deposits are enabled and the feature is turned on, they'll be able to choose between:
- Pay Deposit
- Pay in Full
- They complete checkout using their selected payment option.
If the customer chooses Pay in Full, the entire order balance is collected immediately.
If they choose Pay Deposit, only the required deposit is charged and the remaining balance can be collected later according to your payment policies.
Why Enable Pay in Full?
Many rental businesses enable this feature because it can:
- Improve cash flow by collecting more revenue upfront.
- Reduce the number of outstanding balances that need to be collected later.
- Minimize payment reminders and follow-up invoices.
- Give customers the flexibility to choose the payment option that works best for them.
Customers who prefer to pay everything at once can do so, while those who only want to secure their reservation can still pay the required deposit.
Deposit vs. Full Payment
| Deposit Payment | Full Payment |
| Charges only the required deposit at checkout. | Charges the entire order total at checkout. |
| Remaining balance is collected later. | No remaining balance is due after checkout. |
| Offers a lower upfront cost for customers. | Eliminates the need to collect a final payment later. |
Important Notes
This feature does not replace your deposit settings. It simply gives customers the option to pay the full balance instead of only the deposit.
Customers are never required to pay in full unless your business requires full payment for the booking.
If deposit payments are disabled, this option will not appear during checkout.
This feature only applies when customers pay by Credit/Debit Card.
Best Practices
Many businesses find that offering both payment options provides the best customer experience. Customers who want a lower upfront cost can pay the deposit, while customers who prefer to complete payment immediately can pay the full balance.
Collecting full payment upfront can also reduce administrative work by minimizing outstanding balances and follow-up payment requests after the booking has been confirmed.
