Quote vs. Manual Order — What Is the Difference?

What This Is

BRS lets you create either a quote or a manual order. The main difference is whether the customer still needs to approve the booking or whether you are confirming it for them.

Quote

A quote is an estimate sent to the customer for review.

The customer receives a link where they can:

  • Review the order details
  • Enter payment if required
  • Accept the terms and conditions
  • Complete checkout

Once the customer completes checkout, the quote automatically becomes an active order and appears on your calendar.

Best for: customers who want to review pricing or details before committing.

Manual Order

A manual order is created by you on the customer’s behalf when the booking is ready to be confirmed.

Use a manual order when:

  • A customer calls and asks you to place the order
  • You take payment over the phone
  • You are ready for the order to go directly on your calendar

A manual order becomes an active order immediately.

The customer is not sent a separate checkout link to accept the terms and conditions, so your terms should clearly state that placing an order means they agree to your terms.

When to Use Each

Use a quote when the customer still needs to review and approve the booking.

Use a manual order when the customer is ready to book and you are placing the order for them.

Important Note

A quote does not become an official order until the customer accepts it.

A manual order is official as soon as you create it.
