How to Accept Card Payments on Your BRS Site (Choosing a Processor)
What This Is
If you're setting up your BRS site to accept credit and debit card payments, you'll first need to connect a payment processor — this article helps you choose which one.
This is a comparison of the four payment processors BRS supports to help you decide which is best for your business.
Supported Processors
• Stripe — Strong choice for most businesses. Supports credit cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. Embedded checkout keeps customers on your site the entire time. Widely used among BRS tenants, and most of our documentation and Loom videos are built around Stripe.
• Square — Equally strong option, especially if you already use Square for in-person payments and want everything in one place. Embedded checkout — customers stay on your site. Requires SSL to be active before card entry appears.
• PayPal — Supported, but not recommended as a primary processor. PayPal redirects customers off your site to complete payment and then back, which causes higher cart abandonment compared to Stripe or Square.
• Authorize.net — Supported but considered outdated. Some users have reported friction with it. Not recommended for new setups.

Our Recommendation
Both Stripe and Square are excellent choices and will serve you well. If you already have a Square account for in-person sales, Square is a natural fit. If you are starting fresh or want Apple Pay and Google Pay support, go with Stripe. Either way, you will have a smooth embedded checkout experience. Most of our setup documentation references Stripe, so if you are unsure, Stripe is the path of least resistance.
