Using Surface Selection at Checkout

What This Is

Surface selection lets you require customers to specify what surface the equipment will be set up on during checkout (e.g. grass, pavement, concrete). You can also charge different rates depending on the surface. This information is collected during checkout along with delivery details (see: How to Preview Your Site as a Customer)

Steps

1.    Go to Rentals → Rental Settings

2.    Find the Surface Selection section

3.    Add the surfaces you want customers to choose from

4.    Optionally set different pricing for each surface

5.    Create Surface/Save

If you leave this blank, the surface field will not appear on your checkout page. You can also control the order your surfaces are displayed on checkout from the Surfaces page by dragging and dropping them into your preferred sequence.

Make sure your product descriptions also clearly explain surface requirements (see: Writing Effective Short and Long Descriptions)

Tip: This is useful if you charge an extra fee for concrete or setups that require more prep work/more sandbags etc.
