Promo Codes Not Working at Checkout

What this usually means

If a promo code is not working, it usually means the code does not match the promo code settings, the order does not meet the minimum amount, or the maximum discount has limited the amount that can be applied.

Promo codes in BRS apply across every item.


Things to review first

1. Find the promo code

Go to: Rentals → Rental Settings → Promo Codes

Open the promo code and review the settings.

2. Check that the customer entered the code correctly

Make sure the code was entered exactly as it appears in your promo code settings.

Check for:

  • Spelling differences
  • Extra spaces
  • Missing characters
  • Uppercase/lowercase differences

3. Check the minimum amount

Promo codes can have a minimum order amount.

If the order does not meet the minimum amount, the code may not apply.


4. Check the maximum discount amount

Promo codes can have a maximum discount amount.

If the promo code appears to be applying less than expected, review whether a maximum discount limit is controlling the final discount amount.


5. Remember that promo codes apply across every item

Promo codes are applied across every item. Review the full order to understand how the discount is being calculated.


6. Test the code

Place a test order using the same products, date, address, and promo code.

7. Do a live order test if needed

If the test looks correct but you still want to confirm the live customer experience, do a live order test using the same conditions the customer would use.
